おやゆび姫、どちらがお好きですか？

こんにちは。YOKOYOKOです。
酷暑厳しい中、皆様いかがお過ごしですか？
私は先日家族と帰省して、
早めのお盆休みをいただきました。
帰省先は涼しくて、
夜は毛布を使うほど。
でも神奈川に帰ってきてからの反動に、ぐったりです。。。

鎌倉で、来年春に個展があります。
そのテーマを最近決めまして、
童話の中の生き物を描こうと思います。
前回の箱根の個展では息子と生き物を描いてきましたが、
人ももっと上手く描けるようになりたい。
生き物とその人との関わりを
私の色で表現できたら、と思います。
まずは物語をどうするか。
生き物が出てくるお話はたくさんありますが、
はじめに思い浮かんだのは浦島太郎。
大好きな海の生き物がたくさん出てくるし、
個展会場を海をイメージしたものでいっぱいにしたら没入感がありそう。
それからおやゆび姫。
これも森の生き物がたくさん出てきます。
身近な生き物を描くのも好きなので、
モグラやネズミ、カエル、
お花、森の木漏れ日、、、、、
イメージは膨らみます。
もしかしたら海と森、どちらも入れるのもありかな。
おやゆび姫のラフを描いてみて、
色々とイメージが固まってきました。
ちなみに今回UPした画像は、
おやゆび姫がつばめに乗って、逃げ出しているところ。
背景を森にするか、
夕焼けの原っぱにするか、迷っています。
森にするとシンプルな色合いでつばめが引き立つ。
でもよくあるイラストかも。
夕焼けの原っぱにすると、
私らしい色になるけど、ちょっと見づらいかも。。。
皆さんはどちらがお好きですか？

Hello, this is YOKOYOKO.
How is everyone doing amidst this intense heat?
I recently visited my hometown with my family
to take an early Obon holiday.
It was nice and cool there—
cool enough to need a blanket at night.
But the contrast upon returning to Kanagawa has left me completely drained...

I have a solo exhibition coming up in Kamakura next spring.
I recently decided on the theme:
I plan to draw creatures from fairy tales.
For my previous exhibition in Hakone, I drew creatures alongside my son,
but I also want to improve at drawing people.
I hope to express the connection between the creatures and the people
using my own unique style.
First, I had to decide on the story.
There are so many tales featuring creatures,
but the first one that came to mind was *Urashima Taro*.
It features plenty of the sea creatures I love,
and I imagined filling the exhibition space with an underwater theme to create a truly immersive experience.
Then, I thought of *Thumbelina*.
That story is full of forest creatures, too.
I enjoy drawing familiar animals,
so moles, mice, frogs,
flowers, dappled sunlight filtering through the trees...
The ideas just keep flowing.
Perhaps I could even incorporate both the sea and the forest.
After sketching out some rough ideas for *Thumbelina*,
my vision started to take shape.
By the way, the image I’ve posted here
shows Thumbelina escaping on the back of a swallow.
I’m torn between setting the background in a forest
or in a meadow at sunset.
A forest setting would allow for a simple color palette that makes the swallow stand out.
But it might be a bit of a cliché.
A meadow at sunset
would reflect my signature style, though it might be a little harder to see the details...

タコとウツボ刺繍シャツ

こんにちは。YOKOYOKOです。
しばらく更新が滞ってしまいました。
なんだか個展やネット販売してが終わったら、
気が抜けてしまって。
良くないですね。
プライベートではパート先で
外国人観光客に向けて
日本人のライフスタイルや、
食生活についての動画を作ったり、
開成町で行われるあじさい祭りで
スタッフとして働いたりと、
忙しくしてました。
そんな中でも
個展でオーダーいただいた作品の制作もしていました。
タコとウツボの刺繍シャツです。
個展では白いシャツでしたが、
今回は黒！
より刺繍が際立って、
色がきれいに見えます。
手描きの魚は
金色で。
なんだか幻想的な雰囲気になりました。
奥様の誕生日プレゼントなんですって。
喜んでいただけるといいな。

I was busy.
Even in such a situation
I also produced the works I ordered at the solo exhibition.
It's an embroidered shirt of octopus and utsubo.
It was a white shirt at the solo exhibition,
This time it's black!
The embroidery stands out more,
The color looks beautiful.
The hand-drawn fish is
In gold.
It became a somewhat fantastic atmosphere.
It's a birthday present for your wife.
I hope you will be happy.
